Just Another Day

The other day while reading news on the UFC website i ran across an article that was titled, Jon Jones Killer Workouts. Curious of what an average day in the life of a UFC fighter was i took the bait.

For those of you who don't know Jones, he is an upcoming UFC fighter that has been labeled as the next big thing. The 6'3 phenom has a training regiment as unorthodox as the strikes he brings to the octagon. Each exercise is designed to push his muscles to the limit while training them to respond explosively.

An example of his average day is:
1. Hang Clean (5 sets of 5 reps)
2. Barbell Push Press (8 sets of 5 reps: 30 sec. rest between sets)
3. Lying Leg Curl (6 sets of 6 reps)
4. Depth Dumbbell Snatch (4 sets of 4 reps)
5. Ring Twists (3 sets of 4 reps to each side)
6. Clean from Knees w/Jump (3 sets of 10 reps)
7. Medicine ball superset (run the cycle three times for a total of three supersets)
• Medicine Ball Power Up (5 reps)
• Medicine Ball Sprawl and Jump (8 reps)
• Medicine Ball Plyo Push Up (8 reps)
8. One-Leg Straight Leg Walking Dumbbell Deadlifts (3 sets for 25 yards each)

Along with these exercises is cardio where runs 3 days out of the week.

What I'm trying to prove here is that UFC fighters are the greatest athletes in the world. You can't tell me a basketball player or football player could go through nonstop everyday routines like these guys do. They are in a breed of their own and not many have what it takes to do what these guys do on a everyday basis.
